Mim has taught over 2,500 people how to make stickers from home.
Mim started with no graphic design skills and didn’t know how to create stickers when she first started. It’s something she learned as she went along and she has now turned this into a $100,000+ yearly business.

How to sell stickers on Etsy.
1. Please give us a little background on yourself and how you got started selling stickers from home.
Hi, I’m Mim Jenkinson! I’m a mother of two and we live in Australia – although originally I am from the UK. My biggest passions include planning and using stickers to stay calm and organized!
In 2016, I started to make my own planner stickers and loved the whole process from coming up with designs for the stickers to printing and cutting them myself. Not only did it save me money on my (quite expensive!) sticker-buying habit, it also gave me a great new creative hobby too.
This was just after I had been diagnosed with breast cancer – and this new hobby gave me a fun focus during chemo.
I decided to start selling my stickers and built an Etsy shop from scratch – soon, my stickers were selling to people all over the world! Being able to make an income from my hobby has really helped pay my medical bills at the time and my shop has continued to grow since then.
After a while, my customers started to ask me how I was making my stickers, such as the tools and software I was using, how I came up with the designs, what sticker paper and printer I used and more. It inspired me to create a course to share all of this knowledge and help other new sticker makers to take the faster route to learning how to make them from home. I WISH I’d had this knowledge when I got started.
My course sold well and many of my students began to ask me for help with setting up their Etsy shop so they could sell the stickers they’d made too. This inspired me to grow my course and “The Etsy Plan” was born! It’s the fastest, most comprehensive way to learn how to make stickers from scratch that stand out and sell and I’ll tell you more about that later!
2. Can you explain this side hustle to someone who is brand new? What are you selling, are you shipping items, how much do they cost, etc.?
I have sold both printed and printable stickers in my Etsy shop and on my website. For the printed stickers, I printed and cut them from home, packaged them well and posted them to customers all over the world. I was always complimented on my designs, how quickly I shipped them and the quality of my sticker paper – as well as my customer service.
Soon, I started to sell printable versions of my stickers and this added a great passive income stream to my business. I create stickers, list them in my Etsy shop once and they can sell for years to come!
My stickers start at around $2 and I have bundles at around the $50 mark too so it really varies.
For a brand new sticker shop, there are a few costs to outlay in the beginning to consider – as well as some ongoing costs. These include purchasing a cutting machine, a printer, sticker paper and ink. Then there are accessories and other small costs to bear in mind like replacing cutting machine blades, cutting mats, buying graphics etc. Many of my students already have many of these things e.g. they might have had a Silhouette or Cricut cutting machine gathering dust on the shelf. They’ve told me that joining my course has given them the chance to finally put the machine to use!
For new sellers who are on a budget, you can always find great quality second-hand printers or cutting machines and upgrade later (if needed).
Bear in mind too that Etsy charges some fees to use its platform such as a renewable 20c listing fee for every product you list to sell. When you sell a product, there will also be shipping fees and other small transaction fees. I encourage and teach my students to ensure that they are always focusing on profit – so they are making more money each month than they are spending on running their business.
3. How much do you earn monthly from Etsy by selling stickers?
My monthly income is now made up of my Etsy shop sales, website sales and the revenue I earn from teaching and coaching, selling courses, my memberships and some other digital products.
Each year, my income has grown and is now at the multiple six-figure mark this year. I’ll always be so grateful that my business has allowed me to spend more time with my two children, my husband and focus on rebuilding my health both physically and mentally.
4. What exactly is a sticker used for? Who buys them?
My speciality is planner stickers – although I also make stickers for home organization, business, my kids and more.
Planner stickers come in so many different shapes and sizes and they’re used for numerous reasons too. Many of my customers use stickers to decorate their planner, to help them be more organized and as a form of self-care and therapy. I personally love my weekly ritual of using stickers in my planner.
Stickers are sold either as printed stickers, printables or digital stickers – and some shops offer all of these.
My customers are predominantly women, and many are mothers and grandmothers. All share my love for the therapy and ritual of using stickers to be creative and more organized.
5. What do you like about selling on Etsy?
So much! I really love the huge difference that my stickers make in the lives of my customers. My Etsy shop has had hundreds of 5-star reviews where my customers have complimented my products and my customer service. I get so excited when customers share images of them using my stickers in their planners or around the home.
Additionally, I love the creativity and self-care I’ve built into my own life by using and making stickers and seeing the impact they have on others too.
My Etsy business, and teaching others to make and sell stickers, has given me the opportunity to run my own business from home. This is something I always wanted to do but I didn’t know how to make it possible. I never would have guessed it might come from making stickers!
Etsy is a wonderful platform to sell on and I’m always helping my students find new ways to help their new shop stand out from others.
6. How much money can you make selling stickers?
This varies depending on the kind of stickers you’re making, how unique they are, how much time and effort you put into building your business and more. I know many sellers whose full-time income has been replaced by their Etsy shop income.
As mentioned before, I personally make multiple 6-figures a year and this is from a combination of selling my range of stickers and planners as well as my courses and programs.
7. Do I need to already have a following to make money selling stickers? How do I find customers?
It isn’t essential to already have a following or blog – although of course those things can sometimes help.
I teach my students how to come up with ideas for products that customers WANT to buy – so they’re not creating ones that people don’t want or where there is already a lot of competition.
I also work with them to list their products on Etsy in a way that will help them be found by customers who are looking to buy stickers.
